At first a little piece of history of how it all started.
In the year 2000, the idea to start a radiostation, was born.
At that moment, it was all we knew.
The thought behind it was to broadcast music you don't hear on other stations.
After trying a few concepts we conclude that a mix of reggae and rock would be a good combination.
Now we had to pick a name.
Maxzz & Marley
Owners and dj's of this station (no strangers in the reggaescene) had a brainstormsession and the name was picked.
Rasta Radio
We did it like this for 2 years. It was striking that there were more listeners when we played rock and
blues.
Finally there was just a little reggae played. We responded to the requests of our listeners, they wanted to
hear Hardrock, Rockballads and Blues.
In 2003, the name was changed in Sunshine Radio.
From that moment on it all started to grow.
Concepts were changed, playlists were renewed.
There were contacts with bands and recordcompagnies.
Through the years Sunshine Radio has known its ups and downs.
But always came out stronger.
And now, in 2010, a lot has changed.
The contacts between the Dutch bands an Sunshine Radio is better than ever.
Just like the contact with the listeners, and the contact between the listeners and the bands.
The programming and the website, they both had a fresh transformation, as the many regular listeners and visitors may have noticed.
The opinion of Sunshine Radio is: there are a lot of good bands in the Netherlands who are in the spotlights but don't get help from the pluggers of the commercial radiostations.
Our motto?
We promote bands wich are beginning to get known in the Netherlands.
They get a chance to profile themselves by sending their music to us and take a page on the website of Sunshine Radio.
It is rumoured that it couldn't be done.
But we have got a powerfull weapon: INTERNET
With a broadcaster and a player (free download) are we able to let the world enjoy the music we play.
According to the statistics we've got listeners in more then 30 countries.
